The Tribe of Artists costumes range from the minimal to extravagant but all express the unique point of view of each participants creative vision, thus the title, A Tribe of Artists. The photos were primarily shot in a portable photographic studio set up at Burning Man 2006. In addition, post-burner events provided venue to document the most creative and unusual outfits. Dealing with overwhelming dust storms, heat, and extremely loud art cars, Nelson photographed over 100 participants.
